The following are the guidelines to be followed for the cleaning and preparation for the new manufacturing season. These procedures have been reviewed and implemented over the past 100 years and have now been tweaked to be as optimal as possible. They have also been reviewed and approved by the Department of Elfland Security, Santa, and the United Elves Association Elf Workers Union.
All cleaning and preparation should be conducted and completed within the first few days of returning to work after the official winter or summer vacation periods. These are not regular duties of these workers, but are tasks that need to be performed in order for proper preparation for their regular job functions.
All workers in the Raw Material Warehouses need to review current stock levels and depose of any items that may be rotten or can not be used, through the city's recycling system. All areas need to be thoroughly cleaned and prepared to start receiving raw materials from the Department of Forestry and Santa's Village greenhouses. All warehouses that deal with edible items should be completely steam cleaned and sanitized.
This will include: Wood Processing, Plastic Processing, Candy Cane Factory, Gift Wrapping Factory, and Fastener Factory.
If there are any raw materials left within the factory receiving warehouses, they should be organized, stacked, and inventoried. These materials should be moved to the front of production and used up first when the factory goes into full production. If there is any material you have inventoried, send a detailed list with your completion report. If there is any material that needs disposed of, please use the city's recycling system and do not include these materials on the inventory.
Any materials that may be left within factory exporting warehouses should be sent over to any associated workshops and inventoried within the workshop warehouses. At this point, there should not be any materials within the exporting warehouses of the factories.
The gift order division has been responsible for taking the orders from the post office, cross-referencing with the naughty/nice list, and entering the information within the computer for the craftsman to create the gifts. They are also now responsible for the record keeping of supplies at the workshop during the start of the working season, and after the summer break period. These elves will be working with the warehouses within the workshop to help with the implementation of a detailed inventory of all supplies such as wood stock, plastic stock, paint, wrapping paper, fasteners, and glue. Once this inventory has been completed, it must be cross-referenced and updated within the computer system to have an accurate record of the supplies for the start of the season. Once the inventory has been determined, they will then place the initial orders for the season to the factories at Santa's Village for the workshop craftsmen.
Assist all of the workers in the Gift Order Division with the inventory of the workshop and the warehouse.
Please take this time to review and repair the following:
Assist the Workshop Craftsman with any repairs and clean-up within the workshop and workshop warehouses.
Once all shift and area supervisors have completed checks with the items within their section and area, please submit a completion report to the Workshop Supervisor - Latimer Snerd. Snerd's office will keep track of the completed tasks and the "official" countdown clock will be adjusted to reflect the start of manufacturing. No manufacturing should be conducted until the whistle blows signally the start of this years production season.
