As Lucky was leaving the office for the Division of WWW/PR, he passed by the officers for Gift Wrap and Decorations and they called him inside to ask him some more questions. The asked him if there were any crafts he would like made and posted to his website. After thinking about it for a minute, he said his close friend Cupid showed him how to make hearts out of a dollar bill. He thought it was really fun and easy to do. Maybe if they all took a moment and put their heads together, they could come up with a way to make some shamrocks out of dollar bills.
Here is what they came up with. We hope you like it!
Supplies: 4 Dollar Bills and Tape
You will need to make 3 dollar bill hearts. To make the dollar bill hearts, first you will need to fold the bottom edge of the dollar bill to the back side to the top of the words “one dollar†and then crease it into place.
Once you have the edge folded over, fold it in half from side to side, so it looks like a book and again crease it into place.
Next, open the bill back up like you opened the book and then fold the bottom edge of one half of the dollar to the center fold line, creasing it.
Then, fold the other side the same way and crease it as well.
Turn the bill over and fold the center corner of one side down to meet the free edge of the bill and crease it.
Repeat with the other center corner.
Then fold each outer corner in to meet the edge and crease them as well.
Finally fold in a small part of each corner that sticks out on the sides to make it less pointy and crease them into place.
Repeat until you have 3 dollar bill hearts.
Then, lay one heart down with the front (not the side with all the bends) face down.
Lay the other 2 hearts face down as well on either side of the first heart, with their points slightly overlapping each other over the point of the first heart. Be sure to leave a slight gap between the sides of the hearts to make the shape of a shamrock.
Place a small piece of tape over the 3 points to hold them together.
For the petiole or stem of the shamrock, roll the 4th dollar bill along its long edge, folding the second edge under slightly so the yellowy edge is inside the roll and then flatten the roll.
Fold one end of the flat roll down about 1/5th of the way and crease sharply.
Finally, lay the flattened roll on the back of the shamrock leaf portion with the folded end up and place tape across the folded end and onto either side of the stem to hold it in place.
Once you are done, turn it over and check out your work!
Time to share your masterpiece. Give it to someone special this St. Patrick’s Day! Maybe even place it on a stick and place it in a flower arrangement or make several and give them a bouquet of cash shamrocks.
